Camp Reflection

Starting Point: Farm Cove Intermediate approx. 08:00, 25/10/2017 I arrived at school for camp. I went on bus 3. My dad was with me in all of camp. approx. 08:50, 25/10/2017 I began my trip to Totara Springs. The trip took around 02:30. Then I finally arrived. Totara Springs Approx. 11:25, 25/10/2017 There were twelve activities to do. Early Activities: Approx. 12:30-15:30, 25/10/2017 One of the early activities was the foam slide, filled with soap. The first time I tried it, I spun around and ended up on my back. Dinner 1: 05:30-06:30, 25/10/2017 The dinner was lasagna and some other food, like carrot sticks, corn and greens. I took more than the required time to finish at least 50% up. Campfires: Approx. 07:00-08:30, 25/10/2017 This is my first time creating a camp fire in my life. The fires were pretty hot, but I didn’t have the biggest fire. Eventually all of the fires went out. I went to bed at 10:30, 25/1...

5 ideas to make my house look creative

Unlike an ordinary house, I can design my house creatively, with hidden things and lots of space. So can you, with many things to make your house look cooler. I will show you 5 that I would use if I made a house. 5. Fused Dining/Pool Table With the board, you can eat your food. Without the board, you can play pool. If the billiard balls fall into the holes, they go into the place where you can get them. 4. Book-Shaped Shelf Opens and closes like a book. When open you will find a shelf of a few stories yet many books. When closed you'll find a book shelf with only one story. 3. More of a Bunk Bed Instead of two beds, you can have three beds. As tall as a normal bunk bed, but you can have a crib just beside the top or bottom bed. 2. One Pot, Two Lives This amazing pot has two purposes. On one side is a miniscule garden where your plants grow, but on the other side is a fish tank. This can help make your workspace more fun. 1. Indoor Slides Yo...

Microsoft is NOT shutting down Microsoft Paint!

On July 24, Microsoft declared it would shut down MS Paint because there is a new MS Paint 3D. So many people missed MS Paint and wished they can still use it.  Microsoft, Telegraph.co.uk, TheGuardian.co.uk and even a website called The Hindu (no, some of them  are not really Hindus) spread the news. Until then... On July 25, Microsoft saw many MS Paint users did not want MS Paint  to shut down , so they changed their mind and cancelled the shutdown.  MS Paint will just be moved to the Windows Store and will be available for free. No money required. Some cool features of MS Paint include pixel art, brushes, (since Windows Vista Paint), custom colours (since Windows 95 Paint), but 3D paint includes 3D plane shapes, solid shapes, new brushes, stickers, effects, etc. The first time I ever used MS Paint was on Windows XP. I  don't remember what I used to create, but you can find it on my mum's Facebook account. Then I used it on Windows Vista, Windows 7 an...

Why cycling is better than running

Intro: Cycling has many things that running doesn’t. There are many runners who wish they had a cycle. I can tell you 5 reasons why cycling is better than running: 1. Cycling is more fun and exciting and you get to go faster than a runner. Many fast bikers are faster than runners, such as cycling at 7m/s compared to running at 5m/s. Be careful! You could collide with someone’s vehicle or fall down a cliff if you go too fast and/or you aren’t careful. Only the fastest runners can run more than 8m/s, while most people will not be able to bike at a speed exceeding 12.5m/s. While some runners are faster than cyclists, more cyclists would be able to outrun runners if there were the same number of runners compared to cyclists in the world. 2. Some bicycles have a cool bell and controls. Many bicycles such as my bicycle have cool controls - a bell (to warn people you are in their way and want to go this way) and numbered gears. (the lower the gear or speed number, the easier it is to...

Hatchet: An essay

Intro The hatchet is an essential tool to Brian’s survival during his time in the Canadian wilderness. The book is called Hatchet because Brian used it for survival from beginning to end. You can use a hatchet in many different ways. In other words, multi-purpose. There are many kinds of hatchets such as this Swedish one. P1 It was Brian’s only tool for most of the story. (T) His mother gave it to him before the plane flew. When the plane crashed, the hatchet was fastened to his belt. (E) He began his survival journey in the Canadian wilderness. He found out it was very useful and doesn’t just work like an axe. There were many tricks Brian found out by using a hatchet. (XI) P2 It can be used to chop some wood. (T) A hatchet usually weighs 1-3lbs and is sharp and good for cutting, even though an axe is better for cutting wood. If you want to cut down trees, a hatchet is one suggestion.  (E) A hatchet, just like an axe, is designed to be sharp enough to cut wood and i...

Learning from my struggles

The challenges I faced at school in the last few weeks were behaviour, concentration and instructions. I had problems listening to and understanding instructions. In Hard Materials class, I couldn't understand enough how to use the equipment such as the belt sander. I used the machines improperly. Due to this, I was moved out of Hard Materials class and I decided to move to Music class, which is safe. I was having a hard time concentrating. One time, I got upset that I still need to do my work while other students were already allowed to play games.  Out of frustration, I spoke very impolitely to my teacher and teacher aide when they told me to finish my tasks.  My mum and dad had to talk to me about these issues and gave me time to think. They took away my multimedia privileges for exactly  4  days! The privileges I lost were my computer, the television, the Nintendo 2DS, the iMac and simply every computer or mobile in the house. My only freedom was bo...

Preparing for a day like today

Everyday, we try to prepare our children for what they might encounter out there while we are not with them. There are days when you put in double the effort. Today is one such day for us. Today, there will be a school fundraising event where kids will ride their wheels to raise money for a school van. No-brainer, right? Just a regular fun time for the kids. I truly hope so. I am on my way to work, replaying in my head the reminders we've given our son. Have we told him everything he needed to know? Will he remember them all? I walked him to school today, talking non-stop, trying to cram all my instructions in those few minutes. You see, one of the ways to help Michael is to discuss everything that could happen. When things don't go as planned  It is a wet Auckland day. In fact, I've got my gumboots on. So I told him to prepare for the possibility that the much-awaited event might be postponed. This talk is crucial. Last term, Swimming Day was cancelled due to ...
